The Hilton Chicago

720 South Michigan Avenue
Room rates: from $240/ night
"Effortlessly integrated into the Chicago skyline, the Hilton Chicago hotel near Grant Park, Lake Michigan and Museum Campus, is surrounded by the most recognizable Chicago landmarks, rewarding guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves within the city’s architectural roots."
**Originally the Conrad Hilton, this is a great big old hotel located on the outskirts (south) of downtown Chicago. It's right across the street from a great section of Grant Park, but still within walking distance of the Art Institute of Chicago and The Field Museum. For sushi lovers: Oysy on 11th and Michigan is highly recommended.
The Wit

201 N.State St.
Room rates: from $290/ night
"Lose yourself in the vibrant epicenter of the Windy City at theWit – A Doubletree Hotel, the newest downtown Chicago boutique hotel. Located on historic State Street -- in the heart of the revitalized theater and Loop business districts -- this all-new destination pulls the chair from underneath pomposity and seriousness … igniting the neighborhood with a new energy and spirit of fun."
**Chicago's newest and most hip hotel, located in the Loop - it supposedly has the coolest so-hip-it-hurts rooftop bar. Its also a block away from the Chicago River and the infamous (Wilco) Corncob Buildings as well as a favorite downtown restaurant, South Water Kitchen
Intercontinental

505 North Michigan Avenue
Room rates: from $305/ night
The Intercontinental was originally built in 1929 as the Medinah Athletic Club, a luxury men's club for members of the Shrine organization.
As the only hotel with a front entrance that opens directly onto the world-famous Magnificent Mile, the InterContinental Chicago offers a luxurious setting unlike any other. Experience the perfect convergence of old-world elegance and modern sophistication.
**The Mag Mile Hotel. Pretty awesome - especially if you like to go shopping (make sure to check out the Oak Street shopping just west and north of Michigan Ave). A great art space called The Arts Club of Chicago is close by as well, as is the original Billy Goat Tavern - if you can find it... cheezborger cheezborger
The James

Room rates: from $229/ night
"The James is ideally situated right in the heart of downtown Chicago, just steps from Michigan Avenue. In addition to its proximity to numerous dining, shopping and nightlife choices along the world famous Magnificent Mile, The James is within easy walking distance of such celebrated cultural attractions as Millennium Park and The Museum of Contemporary Art."
**This place is pretty great and stocks a lot of its wall space with art work from Chicago-based artists.
